GE Edison Award

The GE Edison Award, an annual program sponsored by GE, recognizes excellence and quality in professional lighting designs that employ significant use of GE light sources (lamps and/or LEDs).

Winners for 2007 will be announced 27 May 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Winning Projects
Qualifying projects are eligible for the awards indicated below. The annual GE Edison Award winner is chosen from the winners of Awards of Excellence.
Judging Criteria

Entries are judged on the following criteria: functional excellence; architectural compatibility; effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products and techniques; appropriate color, form and texture revelation; energy effectiveness and cost effectiveness.

Projects scoring the highest number of points qualify for Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence. The judges also select Awards for Sustainable Design and an Award for Residential Design.

Qualifying entries remain anonymous throughout the judging process and are evaluated equally, regardless of type or size of project.

2007 Call For Entries

Recognition

Winning projects receive Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit, Awards for Sustainable Design and/or an Award for Residential Design. The GE Edison Award Winner is selected from among the Awards of Excellence.

Designers of the winning projects receive personalized plaques in recognition of their lighting design achievements.

The GE Edison Award Winner receives a personalized Steuben crystal trophy and continued publicity throughout the following year. A distinctive plaque is also presented to the owner of the winning installation.

Winners and qualifying entrants are recognized at a private event, which is held annually on the evening prior to the opening of LightFair International.

Residential lighting projects submitted as entrants to the 2007 GE Edison Award competition also will be entered into a special category established for residential projects only. The top residential lighting design is selected by the judges based on existing entry criteria and is presented with an Award for Residential Design.
