Advanced Lighting Update This is a new course designed for the lighting professional who wants concise updates on new lighting systems, metrics, application guides, tools, industry issues and more. Participants learn about cutting-edge lighting systems along with application guidelines and metrics for systematic performance comparisons. Other topics will include: lighting research updates, overview of lighting legislation, and strategies for LEED and other "green building" initiatives.

Advanced Motor Control Centers & Switchboards New for 2008!

Advanced Motor Control Centers & Switchboards This course is designed for GE distributor sales representatives that have completed the C&I 102 course. The content features advanced take-off, specification review, and SpeediWin entry for switchboards and motor control centers. The major objective of this advanced class is to improve the skills required to create professional quotations from one-line diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and specifications for projects of medium complexity.

Each attendee is required to bring two projects to class: one switchboard project and one motor control center project from his/her market, including specs and drawings. These projects will be used as part of a workshop in this course.

Basic Distributor Sales Training (Edison Elite) New for 2008!

Basic Distributor Sales Training (Edison Elite) This course, designed for the new distributor sales representative, provides the essential information on lighting products and applications, and introduces important tools used to calculate benefits for customers. Topics include: basic terminology, light and color, light sources and ballasts, lighting economics, lighting legislation update, and application modules that focus on selling opportunities.

C&I Products 101 (Distributor Training)

C&I Products 101 (Distributor Training) This is an intermediate-level course for inside and outside C&I sales personnel who already sell component products (GE & distributors). The course covers circuit breakers, controls, dry-type transformers, modular metering, capacitors, and panelboards. It focuses on small project take-offs and pricing, with hands-on practice with SpeediWin software and real product samples.

Prerequisites: 1) At least 3 months experience in electrical component sales, 2) At least 2 hours experience using Speedi software to quote small jobs.

C&I Products 102 (Distributor Training)

C&I Products 102 (Distributor Training) This is an intermediate-level course for inside and outside C&I sales personnel who already quote panelboard jobs using Speedi software (distributors and GE). The course covers switchboards, motor control centers, busway, pad-mounted transformers, and hands-on practice with SpeediWin software (including MCCs) and real equipment samples.

Prerequisites: 1) Completion of C&I 101 or Ability to handle panelboard quotes through 1200A on Speedi without assistance.

C&I Products 103 (Distributor Training)

C&I Products 103 (Distributor Training) This is an intermediate-level course for inside and outside C&I sales personnel who have already attended a 2- or 3-day intermediate-level equipment course (distributors and GE). This course features: training on take-off and pricing for more complex switchboards, ATS, and motor control centers; and design and build concepts and control schematic take-offs with emphasis on electrical distribution design and theory.

Prerequisites: 1) Successful completion of intermediate level equipment course or C&I 102; 2) Completely self-sufficient in use of Speedi-Win.

Fundamentals of Commercial & Industrial Lighting

Fundamentals of Commercial & Industrial Lighting Designed for newcomers to the lighting industry, this conference provides basic product and application training for commercial and industrial lighting. This program contains lectures and full-scale lighting demonstrations that create an interesting, fast-paced, comprehensive lighting conference. Topics include: lighting terminology, lighting measurements and color, an overview of major light source families and systems, lighting economics, and application modules for retail, office, industrial and outdoor lighting.

Green Buildings New for 2008!

Green Buildings "Green" or sustainable building is the practice of creating healthier and more resource-efficient models of construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition. LC Exam Prep Course New for 2008!

LC Exam Prep Course This comprehensive 3-day course is designed to provide participants with an in-depth final review, prior to taking the Lighting Certified (LC) exam administered by the National Council on the Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) in November 2008. A panel of experts will provide an overview of subject matter identified by NCQLP in the examination content outline. Topics include; survey/audit procedures, the lighting design process, financial analysis, installation and commissioning, operations and maintenance, and regulatory compliance. Prior to taking this course, participants are strongly encouraged to review primary reference materials recommended by NCQLP.
(This course is not associated with NCQLP. Completion of this course does not guarantee that the participant will pass the LC exam.)

Lighting for Healthcare Facilities

Lighting for Healthcare Facilities This conference is designed for facility managers, designers and maintenance supervisors who are involved in specifying or maintaining lighting systems in a healthcare setting. The focus is on reducing energy and maintenance costs while maintaining or improving lighting quality. Topics include: lighting design strategies for patient rooms, nurses' stations, operating rooms, medical diagnostics areas, offices and public areas; outdoor lighting techniques for enhanced safety and security; new developments in lighting equipment and controls; and energy and disposal laws and regulations.
