Elfun Society is a global organization of GE volunteers. Elfun members are GE employees and retirees committed to improving their communities and peoples lives through volunteerism, leadership, and friendship.

Elfun has more than 300 active members at GE Consumer Products Lighting Europe, who have organized, co-ordinated and actively participated in several projects throughout the years, including the following:

• 130 Light Source Factory and Budapest Bank employees at Nagykanizsa built a recreational park in the heart of the city by clearing the ground and planting evergreens.
• 60 employees from the Zalaegerszeg Plant brightened the surroundings of the county s children s home by repairing and painting the fence and refurbishing the playground.
• In Kisvárda, 80 volunteers refurbished the castle park, working together with the local government.
• 80 employees of the Hajdúböszörmény Plant renovated the local Youth's Community Centre by renewing and painting the wooden playhouses and toys, and refurbishing the area.
• In 2000 the GE Fund, the philanthropic foundation of the General Electric Company, gave a US$25,000-grant to the Hungarian Pangea Environmental and Cultural Association to help them further develop environmental awareness in Hungary. Part of the grant was to enable them to organise several community projects.
• In April 2000, about 100 volunteers cleaned the Little-Balaton as an Elfun project, collecting 10 tons of waste.
• Elfun projects undertaken in Leicester to date include donating essential survival items and water filter kits, which make up Aqua Boxes, that are used globally in areas of natural disasters.
• 140 people constructed a wooden fence of 600 meters, built a wooden house and cleaned all green areas in a natural park in Vicenza, Italy.
• In Vicenza ´De Giovanni´Hospital, 120 people worked 1000 hours building a wooden fence of 200 meters, painting the internal parking area and entrance gates, and cleaning green areas.
