GE Consumer Products Lighting Europe is trying to minimize the amount of waste deposited at landfill sites and is encouraging recycling and incineration options. Separate collection of hazardous wastes generated during production is functioning well at all sites in Europe and the collected waste is treated according to the waste hierarchy. Solid waste is also separated and recycled, including paper, metal, plastic, wood and glass. The following figure shows the change in the distribution concerning waste treatment options with regard to the number of hazardous waste types.
