GE Consumer &
Industrial, Lighting also monitors the hazardous materials used in its production processes.
The business's hazardous materials strategy is two-fold: 1) reduce the amount of hazardous
materials use and 2) continuously phase out hazardous materials from production. This implies that
no more investments are made for the use of these chemicals and that alternative processes are
being implemented.
Via the example of the Zalaegerszeg plant, a significant reduction in oil consumption can be
demonstrated.
The project aiming to reduce oil consumption in Zalaegerszeg is following two main
directions: (1) to try out new oil types that are more environmentally-friendly and achieve the
same quality with less consumption, (2) to find new oil application techniques that are delivering
the same quality with less oil consumption.
