ErP - Energy related legislation

Energy saving in the focus

The European Parliament and the European Council have established a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for Energy-related Products - ErP - (Directive 2009/125/EC) by extending the scope of the former EuP directive (2005/32/EC).
Minimum performance standards for non-directional household lamps as well as for office and street lighting were adopted on 18 March 2009.

Environmental

ErP for Household Lighting

From March 2009 a new regulation (EC) No 244/2009) has been adopted in all EU countries: inefficient non-directional lamps will be phased out gradually from the EU market starting in September 2009.
In practice, this means that primarily the Incandescent lamps (in Energy classes "E, F and G” but also some Halogen ("D” energy class) and low end CFLi lamps ("B” energy class) will gradually disappear from the EU market till 2016.

The European Parliament and the European Council has also adopted implementing measures (EC) No 245/2009) with regard to ecodesign requirements for fluorescent lamps without an integrated ballast, for high intensity discharge lamps, and for ballasts and luminaires able to operate such lamps.
Inefficient Street and Office lighting products are to be phased out gradually between 2009 and 2017.
