Fluorescent light is produced when the phosphor coating in the tube converts UV light into visible light after a gas discharge is created in the tube. Fluorescents give a more diffused light and this, together with their high energy efficiency, makes them ideal for large, open areas such as offices, commercial, industrial and public buildings.
