Now that you've turned the clocks back an hour, it's a great time to think about switching from incandescent bulbs to longer lasting energy efficient LED lighting. Check out these sample calculations to see just how much you could save.

We based our calculations on a mix of LED bulbs, including general purpose, track and recessed, decorative and outdoor, that each was designed for a long life of over 13 years.

To figure out savings for your specific home, use our LED energy savings calculator—it does the work for you!

15 light bulbs = $87.33 annual energy savings x 13 years = $1,135.29         44 light bulbs = $229.94 annual energy savings x 13 years = $2,989.22

Partial House Replacement

Start with rooms where lights are on the most (family and living room, kitchen, dining room and porch) and assume this scenario includes a mix of 15 energy efficient LED light bulbs.

Whole House Replacement

The average house has 44 light sockets, so let's replace all 44 bulbs with a variety of energy efficient LED light bulbs.

444 light bulbs = $2,299.40 annual energy savings x 13 years = $29,892.20

Whole Block Replacement

The average street has about 10 houses on it. If all of your neighbors replaced all of their lights with LED light bulbs, you could all combine your savings and throw one heck of a block party!
