GE Lighting Wins Three 2013 Product Innovation Awards from Architectural SSL Magazine
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio - March 21, 2013 - (NYSE:GE) - Highlighting its continuous commitment to next-generation LED lighting solutions, GE's Lumination™ LED Luminaires, Evolve™ LED Scalable Area Lights and Tower Bridge lighting retrofit project have been recognized with three 2013 Architectural SSL magazine Product Innovation Awards (PIA).
Designed to evoke the imagination of architects and lighting designers with LED fixtures that inspire new ceiling landscapes, GE's Lumination™ LED Suspended Luminaire – EP Series is a game changer in office, retail and hospitality environments. The Lumination Suspended LED Luminaire opens the door to a world of decorative potential by delivering remarkable light output in a low-profile, ultra-thin design. A clear, narrow band surrounds the edge of the ceiling fixture, making the light source appear to ‘float' in the center of the luminaire. When illuminated, it produces a perfectly even glow. While off, it is perfectly clear.
As one of the world's most recognizable landmarks, the Tower Bridge in London was in the spotlight last year when the city hosted the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Prior to the start of the games, GE transformed the Tower Bridge into a glittering architectural focal point with a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient lighting system. The new lights brighten up the bridge, enhance its architectural features and replace static lights with bulbs that can vary in intensity and color—all while cutting energy consumption.
GE's Tower Bridge project was recognized as the “Most Beautiful SSL Application Using White Light” by Architectural SSL.
GE makes adding LED outdoor lighting to parking lots easier than before with its Evolve™ LED Scalable Area Lights. This next generation of GE's award-winning LED outdoor lighting technology features even more photometric options for illuminating outside areas and is offered in two color temperatures to suit user preference.
Designed with retailers, auto dealers, commercial property owners, mall operators and many other businesses in mind, GE's ecomagination℠ Evolve LED Scalable Area Lights deliver 30-percent energy savings compared with traditional high-intensity discharge or metal halide lighting, and are rated for 50,000-hours life (more than 10 years based on 12 hours of operation per day). This amounts to four times the recommended service interval of a standard HID system, reducing the frequency and expense of maintenance.
The Architectural SSL PIA awards program was established to recognize innovative developments in the LED lighting market. For more information, visit www.architecturalssl.com.
