The GE Edison Award
This annual program, sponsored by GE, recognizes excellence and quality in professional lighting designs that employ significant use of GE Lighting Products, including, but not limited to, GE LED systems, LED luminaires, LED architectural products, LED lamps and modules, lighting controls and non-LED lamps and luminaires ("GE Lighting Products").
We'd like to thank the lighting professionals who submitted entries for the 2012 GE Edison Awards program; the deadline for entry submittal for projects completed in 2012 was 14 January 2013. Winners will be notified by 8 March 2013. Designers will receive personal invitations to the 2012 Awards ceremony, which will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on 22 April 2013, the night before Lightfair International. Qualifying projects are eligible for the awards indicated below. The annual GE Edison Award winner is chosen from the winners of Awards of Excellence.

Entries are judged on the following criteria: functional excellence; architectural compatibility; effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products and techniques; appropriate color, form and texture revelation; energy effectiveness and cost effectiveness.
Projects scoring the highest number of points qualify for Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence. The judges may also select Awards for Environmental Design and an Award for Residential Design based on the presence of entries that encompass the exemplary and outstanding design features that support each category. GE reserves the right to not make an award in one or more categories.

Winning projects receive Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit, Awards for Environmental Design and/or an Award for Residential Design. The GE Edison Award Winner is selected from among the Awards of Excellence.
Designers of the winning projects receive personalized plaques in recognition of their lighting design achievements. GE reserves the right to not make an award in one or more categories.
The GE Edison Award Winner receives a personalized Steuben crystal trophy and continued publicity throughout the following year. A distinctive plaque is also presented to the owner of the winning installation.
Winners and qualifying entrants are recognized at a private event, which is held annually on the evening prior to the opening of LightFair International.
